Intergenerational Work

The association Valtenbergwichtel e.V. offers activities not only for children and young people. Over the years, we have had repeated offers for almost all age groups.

Baby club

Our baby club originated in 2012 from an offer of the family education centre, where new parents could meet regularly with their infant children. Apart from breakfast together, excursions and thematic inputs, the focus was on exchanging experiences among each other.

The baby club is organised entirely on a voluntary basis. Unfortunately, it is not currently taking place due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, you are welcome to get in touch if you are interested. As soon as the situation allows, the Neukirch Youth Centre will be happy to offer the space for such a meeting again on a regular basis.

Everyday Companionship

The association Valtenbergwichtel e.V. does not forget senior citizens either. In the “Everyday Companions” project, 15 volunteers currently support up to 32 senior citizens in the Oberland areawith everyday tasks. In this way, they can help to prevent loneliness and isolation for elderly people who live alone or in seclusion and who need help. This field of activity also offers the opportunity to try out new perspectives and forms of neighbourly help and to have a meaningful occupation in one’s free time.

Our association supports the volunteer daily companions with monthly meetings, a permanent contact person and various training courses. If you would also like to get involved, get in touch with us!

Neighbourhood assistance

Neighbourhood assistance in the Free State of Saxony is an offer to relieve the burden on caring relatives and to encourage the people concerned with people with a recognised care degree.

Approved neighbourhood helpers provide hourly support in everyday life, help to manage it and stimulate potential in people with a recognised care degree. They strengthen the mobility of the people they care for and can help with domestic By accompanying the persons in need of care by the neighbourhood helpers, the caring relatives are relieved.

Neighbourhood helpers must be of legal age and must prove through participation in certified courses that they are qualified as neighbourhood helpers in dealing with people who have a recognised degree of care in order to be able to bill the health insurance fund for relief services. The neighbourhood care courses must be refreshed every three years at the latest.

Such a care course is offered, among others, on the premises of the main house of the association Valtenbergwichtel e.V. in cooperation with the DPFA Weiterbildungs-GmbH from Bautzen at regular intervals. The costs for the implementation of a recognised care course are covered in full by the health insurance of the participants.

The costs for the use of neighbourhood assistance are reimbursed by the long-term care insurance fund within the framework of the relief contribution. The amount of the individual entitlement is determined by the long-term care insurance fund, whereby those in need of care, regardless of the care level, are entitled to at least € 125 per month in relief.

Recognised neighbourhood helpers can charge up to 10 € per hour for their commitment. In addition to the qualification, it is necessary to take out liability insurance that covers any property damage and personal injury to an appropriate extent. Neighbourhood assistants are able to offer up to 40 hours of respite care per month. However, neighbourhood workers and the person to be cared for must not be related up to the second degree or be related by marriage.

The coordination office of the neighbourhood helpof the association Valtenbergwichtel e.V.
