Overcoming Borders with a German-Czech Project

The town of Varnsdorf in cooperation with the association Valtenbergwichtel e.V. from Neukirch/L. launched a cross-border project called “Neighbours” in 2021. The project aims to connect different generations from both countries and strengthen German-Czech relations.

Joint cross-border meetings generate a lot of enthusiasm.

This involves neighbourhood meetings, workshops and various joint activities. The participants are enthusiastic about the idea of a cross-border exchange. The mayor of Varnsdorf also supports the project: “I am very happy that there is a project in our town and the surrounding area that fosters and develops neighbourly relations.”

An app is being developed for the project and a film is being made

also another part of the project is the development of an app in both languages. This app combines all “neighbourhood” offers.

Other senior citizens’ associations and clubs in the border region are welcome to contact us in order to connect even more people and further develop German-Czech relations.
